Started the TULIP Shop Model.

I couldn't wait to get started on the TULIP BABY SWEATER for the shop. It is gonna be adorable and this yarn really is a "dream" to knit with. The kits are $40.99 and contain enough yarn to make the smallest size. The original Tulip is awfully girly, so I will be making up some kits for the little fellas very soon.

2 New Tacoma Daytime Meetups at Lamb's Ear

Our new daytime knitting group, Wednesdays 1-3pm, is going great guns. We had 7 folks there yesterday (including myself) and it was fabulous.
Click here to go to the Tacoma Daytime Knitting Meetup home page.

I am also starting a daytime spinning group, Thursdays 1-3pm. Today was the first one, and it was just me, myself, and I...but I still managed to enjoy myself. You can see pics of what I accomplished in the picture files on the meetup page. I'm sure more folks will join me in the weeks ahead.

And don't forget about our wonderful Thursday Evening knitting group, which has been going strong for a few years now. We still have room for more, so why not come join us tonight?

What's New for Fall???

The fall classes are underway. We still have 3 spots left in the adult Cardigan Class and lots of room in the other classes. The child's raglan, Boku Bag, and Baby hat classes are already in full swing. The dyeing class was so successful this summer that I plan at least one other dye class for the winter quarter...so stay tuned.

We are starting to get the new yarns in. We have almost every color available of Encore Worsted in stock and will try to keep up with demand this fall and winter. If you like Encore you have to come in and try their new self-patterning yarn. We have all 8 colors in stock right now, so don't miss out. We also have added to our selection of Universal Yarns Tapestry and Long Print.

The long awaited order of Dream in Color Yarn and the Tulip Sweater Pattern should be in stock within the next week or 2...so keep checking. The yarn and pattern are super popular, thanks to being featured on the Yarn Harlot's blog.

Koigu is on order but is about 2 months out. Lamb's Pride is on order and should start trickling in over the next few weeks. We will be expanding our color selection of Lamb's Pride, so please bear with us.

We are looking forward to a super fall and winter season. Here is a picture of our shop model for the Old fashioned Christmas Stocking Class:

You have your choice of 3 different charted stocking designs; one for a bay, one for a girl, and the generic one shown. There is a place for the person's name and birth year. The stocking are very quick to knit. Start a family tradition with hand knit stockings.

I had to share this photo, too:

It was sent in by a happy customer who bought some of my Ewenique Yarns to knit a pair of baby pants and matching hat.

Have a great rest of the summer (less than a week) and be sure to stop in to Lamb's Ear to get your fall knitting fix. See you soon.

Seahawk Success!

If at first you don't succeed....

The second attempt at producing Seahawk themed yarn was a huge success. Just needed some navy : )

Here's the finished yarn:

And here is the ribbing started for a cap:

This batch of non-pooling yarn is knitting up beautifully. I hope the Seahawk fan who commissioned this batch will love it. I'll be dyeing up some more this evening. I plan on creating themed yarns for the Mariners, Huskies, and Cougers, as well.

Go Seahawks!

OK, so I'm not a sports fan (by any stretch of the imagination). But some of my customers are. And I've been commissioned to produce some yarn in Seahawks colors. Just one problem. The dyes I use don't really match any of the team colors. Time to play "mad scientist" and do some mixing. This is what I came up with:

The dye swatches turned out nice. Now to see if I can dye it up in the skein and have it look good. The crock pot is cooking as I type. I'll report back later.

Well, the first batch proved that the pacific blue and neon green looked good, but there was still something missing. Needs more blue. Back to the dye pots tomorrow.
