FREE Classes/Events

Due to unforseen circimstances we had to cancel the Machine Felting and Cableology I classes. Instead, we’ll be offering the following FREE events:

April 5th; 1 to 4 pm: FREE Yarn Tasting & Knit In.
Come sample the newest arrivals to Lamb’s Ear. Yarns like Malabrigo, Pagewood Farms, Cash Vero, Universal Ditto, and Berroco Comfort DK. Bring a selection of knitting needles, so you can experience each yarn. If you decide to purchase any of the featured yarns during the event you’ll receive 10% off. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided.

April 19th; 1 to 4 pm: FREE Artfelt Demonstration.
Roxi will show you how to turn ordinary wool roving into unique one-of-a-kind art pieces. No knitting or crocheting
skills needed. So easy, even a child can do it. Felting supplies will be available for purchase (but NOT required).

NOTE: Please let us know if you'll be attending either of these events, so we can plan accordingly. Thank and hope to see you there.

Charity Knitting - HELMET LINERS

Lamb’s Ear has been on the lookout for some sort of charity knitting project. Being that Rick and I are both military veterans, we think this is the perfect charity for us to become involved with. We hope our customers will want to help out, too. Let’s show our military men and women how much we appreciate them. All the info you need can be found here:
http://www.operationhomefront.org/Community/knitters.shtml

Lamb’s Ear will have Cascade 220 on hand in the appropriate colors. For every 5 completed helmet liners you bring in to us, we’ll give you a coupon good for 10% off your shopping trip. Lamb’s Ear will mail the liners off for you, too, so you don’t have to worry about postage.

Amber Knits

My eldest daughter is visiting from Dallas. Of course I had to teach her to knit within minutes of her arrival. Here she is at the knitting group last night. That's her younger sister sitting next to her, being a cut up. I'm so happy that at least one of my 3 daughters will be a knitter. Wish she lived closer. I'd put her to work.

THIS JUST IN.....

We are now stocking Cascade's Cash Vero. it's interchangable with Debbie Bliss cashmerino Aran, but I think it's even softer.

Also just retocked the Kaffee Fassett Regia sock yarn. Hurry 'cause I don't think it'll stick around for long.

And we finally have some swifts in stock. These are the plastic and metal ones, like the one Errol and I use to wind your yarn. Very sturdy and about $20 less than the wood swifts.

Watch your mailbox for a postcard about our new hours. Don't throw it out. You'll want to read both sides...then bring it back to the shop.

NOW OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK!

You’ve been telling us that you’d love to shop with us but can only come in on Sunday and Monday. We’ve listened and Errol and I are happy to announce that we are now here for you, 7 days a week. Sunday and Monday we’ll be at the shop from 11am to 4pm. Please help us get the word out, since we came to this decision after we’d mailed the spring newsletter.

Felt Flowers

I'm getting some samples ready for my upcoming Artfelt Class. I want to make some felt flowers to applique' onto a felted bag (for another upcoming class). I'll keep you updated on my progress. This is an experiment so who knows whether I'll be successful. keep your fingers crossed. These are the flowers attached to the starch paper (I think it's banana starch but not 100% sure).

The flowers are now in the dryer undergoing the magical Artfelt felting process. I better go check on them.

I think they're felted enough. Now to boil some water to dissolve the starch paper.

And here are my flowers and squiggles, drying. Easy as one, two, three. I love Artfelt. Stay tuned for more of my projects over the coming weeks.

Need Something When I'm Closed?

Want to keep your yarn dollars in Tacoma but find you need something after 6pm, or on Sunday or Monday when Lamb’s Ear is closed? Email me and if I’m not off doing something else I’ll be more than happy to open the shop for you. Just let me know when you’ll be arriving and please be on time. And if plans change, be sure and let me know.

I wish I was able to be open 7 days a week but unfortunately my family thinks I should do thinks like grocery shop, wash clothes, etc....and it's hard to do that without some days off.
